Purple Forbidden City - Hue An Imperial City
Hue is home to a large walled Imperialcitie within the city. This morning we walked what was once the imperial capital of Vietnam and the regular person would not have had access to - the purple forbidden city where the emperor and his workers lived.
This is our dragon face. Don’t mess.
It is beautiful! The imperial family ruled for about 148 years. They had around arena where they would place tigers that weredeckawed against elephants. The tigers represented the challengers and enemies and the elephants the royal families. Needless to say the clawless tigers always lost in battle.
The city is gorgeous and Hue is the Buddhist capital (which means I can eat as there are lots of vegetarian options and restaurants!).
Sadly, much of the imperial city was fire bombed during the war with America. They are slowly rebuilding this magnificent place. It is protected by two walls and a note!
The kids really enjoyed feeding the koi and eels in the main ponds of the Purple Forbidden City. I feel like Prince would have loved this place!
