Crossing the street for food

It’s so nerve wracking crossing the road. There are white lines that suggest a cross walk but no one is stopping! Make eye contact and walk slowly and constantly ahead. Cars avoid.
We walked around forever at lunch and found nothing open (and we all got pretty well burned as we disn’t Reapply sunscreen before deliriously walking around starving for food. Da Nang has next to no veggie options at the restaurants we found and ordering noodles with no meat was a no no. Like we were told no, no!

We took a grab car into the downtown of Da Nang which is on the river opposite the beach. It was lunar New Year’s Eve and everyone was buying flowers! Flowers are bought after ripple clean their homes and prepare for a fresh clean new year! It’s gorgeous seeing flowers everyone! But people on scooters speeding around with orange trees, mums 5ft tall and assorted flowers can be terrifying!

We decided to cross the riverfront street by following other people - except I don’t think they were locals, and the one guy just walked in front of everyone cars scooters without looking or caring - it was insane!!! A few scooters had to stop which is not the way it’s suppose to go! You never stop! No one stops! Note to self: do not follow others as these people were tourists!

We took the grab car to a place called Waterfront pub but they were only doing a limited menu. We walked around a bit seeing if there was anything else open but all we found were busy coffee houses serving cold sweet coffee drinks with whip cream. Not a lot of dinner options, or pho that was only meat. We went back to Waterfront. They had three items, hummus, cheese and meat platter and  spring rolls - we got them all!  It was okay. We were all still jet lagged and Keenan was passing out on the table so we took a grab back to the hotel. No fireworks for us that night! We fell tried to stay awake until 8 but it was impossible! Babe Pig in the City was on
Tv for the lunar New Year followed by Garfield. The kids were passing out and mark would jump on their bed saying “come on buddy wake up” but they were so tired. All of Marks efforts to keep us up wore him out and the parents ended up asleep first! Apparently the kids were yelling at us to get up but we were done!
We all were out by 7:30pm tv and lights still on! Mark woke up ant nine to turn everything off. Travelling is tiring! Especially when you need so much attention to focus on all the buzzing scooters and cars and vans getting across roads!!! Beep beep!
