Angkor Handicraft Association - a must!!!

We walked to the Angkor Handicraft Association (not a lot of people walk here just an FYI) it was amazing! They have artisans on site working on crafts and people being trained on how to create these crafts at a fair wage in good working conditions (though it was swelter hot by our standards as it’s all open to the elements. Mark and the kids were turning to puddles as I happily tried on numerous dresses, skirts and shirts! So many wonderful styles! One of the workers came into the change room and helped my try on dresses (another unique and unexpected experience). We were laughing as I was tucking my belly in and trying to not be to sweaty. Really I was a gross mess and kept apologizing.

I got several pieces, one of which they took in under the arms in the spot, and they are making a custom fit dress for me - for $25 US dollars. The woman making it took my measurements and was so nice! I’m much taller then their usual customer. I will be picking it up tomorrow! So excited! It’s lovely. Plus I get to go back without the boys to shop some more!
I also purchased a great beach bag made from old cement bags. It’s awesome! And the bag they gave us for my purchases was made from newspaper. Super cool!
I think I’m going to pick up some items to auction off in Toronto to raise funds for the Apopo! So many great imitatives here! I really love it here!!! So far a favourite place!
We took a tuk tuk back to the apartment and pool after as it was hitting over 40 degrees Celsius! Scratcher!!
