All the good burgers
We spent our last full day in Siem Reap pretty much poolside with the occasional run for food. I mailed a large box of items (lanterns, dresses, shirts and ceramics) back to Canada so I wouldn’t need to carry them anymore. By sea taking 4 months to arrive the box was $38 US, by air $65us. Ouch! At least I don’t need to worry about the lanterns breaking by carrying them around now.
We had the best lunch! Keenan and I went to V-eg vegetarian cafe. It’s down an alley around back of a place and it’s amazing! The owner cuts a potato and fries it fresh for your side of fries, that come with homemade ketchup. I had a mushroom burger and Keenan had a huge salad with zucchini, carmalized onions and avocado! I’ve never seen him eat so many greens it was incredible! This is a magic place! The owner was lovely and chatted about food for a while - obviously his passsion and he’s really good at it.
After a lazy afternoon by the pool the owners of the Golden gecko - Paul and Keith gave us some recommendations on restaurants for dinner. We ended up walking along the river to Jungle Burger. It’s owned by a kiwi so there All Blacks rugby stuff all over and TVs everywhere to watch all the games. Mark and I had mango chilly margaritas - amazing! A real kick you could see the red chilli flakes throughout the frozen goodness! Mark and dev had blue cheese bacon burgers and said it was the best burger they’d had in ages - including in Toronto! They were really awesome,I had a chickpea black bean burger. So good, so good. I couldn’t finish it - but man did I want to! Best burger kind of day! Who knows when we’ll see burgers again as we leave for Laos today so what the hell!!! Burgers it was and they were good!
