Koh Lanta a different island with side car tuktuks & mosques
Koh Lanta is beautiful! It’s a larger island then Koh Tao with sandy beaches and islands to explore. We are just waiting for our ride to kayak the islands and explore some caves!
Some differences on Koh Lanta would be the tuktuks have side cars, and there is a large Muslim population. In Lauang Prabang I was woke. At 4am by Monks, here the mosque was calling people to pray just before sunrise. I was awoken at 5:20 to the very gentle calling (it was much more soothing then the gong at 4am to be honest).
This island also has a very high population of Swedish tourists, most of which are families with small children. Totally not what I was expecting. Very funny. Not a lot of backpackers here, people are either elderly or like I was families with small kids. Needless to say it’s very relaxed. I went for a lovely 6km run on the beach yesterday morning. You need to run in the am because the average temperature is now 35c. It’s hot in the south! The sea is gorgeous and helps a LOT!
