Toilet paper or a little splash

In Vietnam there was virtually no toilet paper in any washroom stall. We were thankful that our friends had warned us about this and we had a role of toilet paper we brought with us from home. You can never be too prepared!

Cambodia has been much better always providing a choice between the hose down or toilet paper. You see all toilets have a hose and spray gun attached to them. It’s been interesting. They also had lots of signed in Vietnam reminding people not to stand on the toilets (similar to New Zealand - not sure who stands on the toulilets but some tourist group seems to enjoy a good squat).
In Veitnam I also saw at least 3-4 men peeing on walls or at the side of the road daily! Even the door man at our first hotel in Da Nang we caught peeing on the hotel at midday! Cambodia is much more refined I saw one person in the forest once the whole time we were here!
We are at the airport now getting ready to head to Laos and I am also a fan of their signs for men and women - both are wearing pants!!!!
And they are also more conscious of the environment here. We’ve had bamboo and steel straws served in our drinks throughout town and there are less take away containers and coffee shops. Sittting for coffee is more encouraged.

That said we also drove by a field full of burning tires on our way back from Angkor Thom and the grand tour. Lots of fires to control garbage and you can feel it in the air quality and star visibility at night. We still need to see some good stars! Hopefully Laos!
