Get money at the airport

While the grab app is awesome because you know how much a ride will cost you with no bartering, but you need to pay cash at the end of a ride. Unlike Uber it is not attached to a credit card. Lucky for us the first ride from the airport was a very nice guy, who got a HUGE tip. The ride should have cost around $4 us but we only had a $10. He was nice and it is the beginning of Tet!

That said everything around our hotel was closed for the holidays! Getting food was very challenging and not having any cash was not helpful! The hotel changed some American money for us so we grabbed a coffee and a couple of coconuts at the beach our first day. Then we couldn’t find a bank machine to get cash for lunch. We were so hungry after playing in the waves ofDaNangs amazing long gorgeous beach. It was a gorgeous sunny morning full of waves and sand.

I buried the youngest in sand so only his face was visible! It’s a gorgeous beach - but food on the day of the lunar moon was scarce! We thought we’d walk up to the main area and just leave our towels in the longer chairs and umbrellas we rented. We walked for over two hours trying to find good! The places we found that looked good said no to us! Either too busy or they only served tour buses! It’s so weird! We found one Korean bbq place that was finally willing to serve us some meat dish but it was expensive and cash only! Wedidn’t have enough. We finally went back to TK seafood and had enough cash for fried rice and spring rolls. This was the place we went the night before where the waiter serves you with his smoke in his mouth. Of course the rice had chicken so I left and got some dry instant noodles from the grocery mart and more chips about went back to the room. Mark and the kids met me after and then we returned to the beach for some more wave diving!
Truly a gorgeous beach!
